On the E18 project | Lot 2, in Norway, Eiffage Génie Civil has completed the excavation of the northern tube of the Bjønnåsen twin-tube tunnel
The breakthrough and counter-breakthrough met on Wednesday, August 28th at 4:30 PM. It was a significant moment for our teams, who were able to gather and celebrate this achievement!
- 1,620 m excavated from Lanner (east access)
- 920 m excavated from Herregarsbekken (west access)
By the end of September, the excavation of the southern tube will be completed after the remaining 200 meters are dug.
A big congratulations to the teams for reaching this new milestone with great success.
As a reminder, the Bjønnåsen tunnel is a twin-tube tunnel (2 x 2.5 km) excavated using explosives. The average progress is 5 to 7 meters per day per tube, depending on the numerous ground injection phases.
